ACTION ALERT: Ban violent police tactics NOW
It’s time to BAN the violent police tactics that threaten our lives.
NO. You can not use chemical weapons against us. You can not choke us until we are dead. You can not break into our homes because you have determined you have cause. This bill would ban the use of tear gas, chokeholds, neck restraints, and no-knock warrants, and other violent tactics that end lives.
You got this lifesaving legislation through the House floor, fam. Now we need to get it through the same process on the other side.
YES, we need you to tell lawmakers AGAIN: Vote YES and pass HB 1054 through the Senate Law & Justice committee.
About the Bill
HB 1054 would ban the use of tear gas, chokeholds, neck restraints, and no-knock warrants. It would restrict officers from shooting at moving vehicles, restrict hot pursuits, and require police to have visible identification. This bill gives directly impacted families and community members a significant place at the table so that their lived experiences inform policy development.
