ACTION ALERT: Mandate statewide independent police investigations
Police cannot police themselves, fam. There is no world in which that is true accountability.
Policing is broken. Not just in Seattle. Not just in Tacoma. But everywhere in the state and the country. There is an urgent need to bring accountability, independence, and an anti-racist lens into the process of excessive force issues inside Washington’s police departments.

About the Bill
HB 1267 would create a statewide Office of Independent Investigations to ensure effective, accurate, and truly independent investigations into police use of deadly force. By creating a new independent agency to investigate police killings, we can begin to rebuild trust between law enforcement and the community.
