ACTION ALERT: Sue police for misconduct

When police maim or kill a human being, they should face consequences.

We need to move a bill today. HB 1202 would authorize the state Attorney General to investigate when police maim or kill someone so they can be held accountable.

Right now, existing avenues for holding police officers civilly liable when they violate a person’s rights or harm someone aren’t good enough. And when a police officer harms someone without facing the consequences, there is no justice for victims of police violence, no incentive to change bad behavior, community trust is eroded, and it makes everyone less safe.

Right now HB 1202 is stuck in Rules. That means it’s at risk of dying before it ever gets a vote. We need this bill to get to the floor for a vote NOW.

YES, we need you to tell lawmakers AGAIN: When police maim or kill a human being, they should face consequences. Send HB 1202 to the House floor for a vote NOW.
